This painting has been created for the exhibition, REFLECTIONS: Observations of the Everyday.

REFLECTIONS invites QArt’s talented artists to tell the stories of their daily life with unique, autobiographical perspectives, and present new worlds through the lens of creatives with disability.

By exploring found and curated objects tied to memory, lived experience and identity, the artists gently draw attention to their access needs by referencing their accommodation and studio space. Forming culture and community in a collaborative, supported work environment guided by highly skilled and experienced mentors, and finding comfort and freedom in making art.

As the artists narrate their first-person human experience, they shift the paradigm of living with disability away from a focus on deficit or lack, and toward creativity, skill, innovation, problem solving and celebrating difference.
